I don't think there's any comparison between deep-frying with oil and air frying with convection. Deep-frying is a very high temperature and high pressure process, whereas air frying is a low temperature and low pressure process.
I think that deep-frying with oil is closer to the taste of deep-frying than air frying is closer to the taste of air frying.
